Introduction

The AXA Art Prize (formerly the XL Catlin Art Prize) is one of the leading student art competitions in North America. Building on a 10-year legacy established in the UK, the contest provides a unique opportunity to discover, celebrate and reward emerging artistic talent across the country.

Now in its second year in the US, the AXA Art Prize is open to figurative paintings, drawings, and original prints created by undergraduates and graduate art students*. By entering students have the rare chance to:

  • SHOWCASE their work in front of juries of major artists and curators

  • FEATURE in exhibitions in San Francisco, Chicago and New York

  • WIN a 1st Prize of $10,000
